Contractor’s College [www.contractorscollege.com] is CAP’s innovative training program designed to assist DBE contractors with becoming more competitive in the marketplace. Contractor’s College educates participants on how to improve their businesses in the four most critical areas of consideration of banks, insurance, and surety companies: credit, capital, capacity and credibility.
Highlights of accomplishments of the Contractor’s College Program:

Credit Project [www.creditproject.org] is CAP’s credit counseling and financial literacy program created to assist entrepreneurs with managing personal credit and debt, and building business credit.
Highlights of accomplishments of the Credit Project Program:

CAP has assisted over 650 clients with improving their personal credit scores and personal credit management skills since 2005

CAP’s Executive Director, Norman D. Roussell, wrote the book, “Start Smart Guide to Personal Credit Management,” and has provided it free to over 1,000 clients since 2005

CAP’s Executive Director, Norman D. Roussell, wrote the book, “Principles of Building Business Credit,” and has utilized the book to teach over 150 clients how to establish and build business credit since 2008

The Credit Project Program provides personal and business credit counseling to over 150 clients annually
CertAssist [www.certassist.net] is CAP’s certification assistance program created to help DBE firms expand procurement and contracting opportunities through federal, state, and local certifications.
Highlights of accomplishments of the CertAssist Program:

CAP developed a DBE certification training seminar for the City of New Orleans that led to a 30% increase in applications for City of New Orleans DBE certification

CAP has conducted 30 DBE certification seminars and assisted 105 clients with securing City of New Orleans, U.S. Department of Transportation, or Louisiana Minority Supplier Development Council DBE certification since 2007
Access Bonding Program [www.accessbondingprogram.org] is CAP’s new (2010) bonding assistance program that helps DBE contractors secure surety bonds through education, management, technical, and financial assistance.
Highlights of accomplishments of the Access Bonding Program:

As a new pilot program of Capital Access Project, the Access Bonding Program is working with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and the City of New Orleans to implement the program on a city-wide basis by the end of 2010

The program secured $25,000 to provide management and technical assistance to clients and $100,000 to provide collateral to help clients qualify for surety bonds within 90-days of the program’s launch
Business Development Seminar Series. CAP has developed a series of seminars that educate entrepreneurs and microenterprise development organizations on how to build and run their businesses and organizations more effectively. The seminars cover topics such as how to form and register your company, marketing your small business, and building business credit.
